Keep up with all the amazing learning in English through your child's Seesaw and also our school Facebook page.
The theme for this year's Writing Week was writing and performing Playscripts. You will have seen some of the dramas created on Seesaw and on our school Facebook page.
Last year's focus for Writing Week was 'All About Me'. Pupils contributed towards a 50th Anniversary book with each page being about a pupil at Longcause 50 years on from its first day.
In the year previous to this the theme of Writing Week was 'British Values'.
Further success at Key Stage 4 with 2 Year 11 pupils entered for GCSE English. Also all of our Year 11 pupils achieved Functional Skills English between entry level 2 and Level 2 (2 pupils at EL2, 6 pupils at EL3, 6 pupils at Level 1 and 3 pupils at Level 2) - Fantastic!
(for more information on changes made with the new National Curriculum and how these are more beneficial for the learning of our pupils in all subject areas, please see our curriculum and assessment policy - https://www.longcausespecialschool.com/policies/)
At KS4 pupils follow a Functional approach to English and Year 11 pupils will leave with an accredited outcome in English Functional Skills which will range from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2. We also have pupils studying GCSE English through the WJEC exam board.
Please see class pages, your child's Seesaw page and our school Facebook page for examples of learning in English.
