Set 1 Speed Sounds

Set 1 sounds are the first sounds that your child will learn. Pupils learn the sound that the letter makes, not letter names at this stage. Pupils learn a saying to help them to form the single letters in their writing too. Below you will find a list of the sounds that they learn, in order, and the mnemonic that goes with them. 

Set 1 order: m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b, f, e, l, h, r, j, v, y, w, z, x
