Cultural Day- Italy
Our first Cultural Day took pupils on an exciting journey to Italy, where they immersed themselves in the country’s rich history, art, music and traditions. Through hands-on opportunities, pupils developed their understanding of Italian culture while having lots of fun exploring the similarities and differences between life in Italy and their own experiences.
Pupils explored Italian food by making their own pizzas and created colourful mosaics inspired by Italian artwork. They explored a range of traditional Italian music and opera, experiencing some of the sounds and musical traditions that make Italy unique.
Pupils travelled back in time to explore Ancient Rome, learning about the Colosseum and Roman gladiators. Using VR headsets, they experienced what it may have been like to watch gladiators in the arena. They also designed and made their own Roman shields and worked together to build their own models of the Colosseum.
Our exploration of Italy’s history continued with Pompeii. Pupils learnt about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and worked together to recreate the ancient city before creating their own erupting volcano experiment.
