Really Wild Encounters
Neil Vaughn from Really Wild Enterprises visited Longcause and transformed our science lab. into a Rainforest for the day!
Neil brought some of his creatures that originally are found there. Throughout the day he gave educational presentations to the whole school about how the creatures have adapted in order to survive.
The pupils learnt many interesting facts and some got up really close to them as well!
Neil brought his Madagascar hissing cockroaches who do a really great job of cleaning up the forest floor, his blue tonged skink called Norris, who is 13 years old, some giant African snails and everyone's favourite - Ginny the bird eating spider who is now 17 years old.
All of these creatures have been rescued by Neil, either at an airport when they were trying to be smuggled into the country, or were unwanted pets.
