I have been at Longcause School for the past 4 years, three of which have been in the Early Years and two leading the Lower School. Prior to this post I trained solely in the Early Years due to my commitment of working with young children. During this time I became fascinated by the complexities and different ways of working with children with SEN, and particularly Autism. After completing my degree I felt that I needed to advance my own skills so that I could work with a wider array of children and chose to complete my Masters of Special Education Needs. This then brought me to Longcause.
The past four years has been a steep learning curve and my role has evolved radically. I have learnt a lot from the school, not only from the supportive and talented colleagues that I work with, but more importantly from the children themselves. I am sure that they have taught me just as much, if not more, than I have them. It is their ever changing different needs and personalities that drives my own practice, and that of the school, to constantly adapt and grow.
